In general situation, base point comparison method is applied in "compare" process. Base point definition is to facilitate a common and relative comparison position. "compare" will reference base point position to process comparison. The function mainly applies in object displacement but not object property changes. Use may use the AutoCAD "object Snap" function to select a straight line, a plotlines, a line of a polygon or a line of a block on the original drawing, the end-point or intersection-point of the line will become a base-point for comparison. Then select the corresponding base point in the later version drawing so that the same base-point is also selected.

Please select base point to compare: When basic point selection function is started, a base point needs to be selected in the current drawings

Please switch to another drawing to select base point: Then select the corresponding base point in the second drawing so that the same base-point is also selected

After the use has applied “select base point” function to proceed with comparison, compare base point can be changed. If user wants to return to original base point for comparison, user will have to select base point function again in order to redefine the original base point coordinate.
